The land and who runs it

Dakota Dunes Casino opened in August 2007 on Whitecap Dakota First Nation, on traditional Whitecap Dakota Territory near Saskatoon. The building stands at the height of the South Saskatchewan River Valley Basin. Its award-winning design echoes the rolling hills, wild grass and dunes of the region.

The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, or SIGA, runs the casino as one of seven it operates in Saskatchewan. Established in 1995, SIGA describes itself as a First Nations, non-profit organization that reinvests all net proceeds in Saskatchewan. Net profits from the seven casinos are divided three ways. The First Nations Trust receives 50%, Community Development Corporations 25% and the Government of Saskatchewan's General Revenue Fund 25%.

The RV lot has ten stalls, each with 20, 30 and 50 amp service. Guests register at the Guest Services desk with a SIGA Rewards card, and Security or the Casino Shift Manager approves the stay. Stays run on a 5 day basis, to a maximum of 15 days. There are no reservations: spots go first come, first served. Everyone in the RV must be 19 or older.

Septic services are not offered on the lot, and open-air fires and tenting are not allowed. For a bed instead, Dakota Dunes Resort on the resort side of the same property has 155 guest rooms and suites. The planner alongside works out the RV registration blocks for chosen dates.

    Nineteen and over

The legal gambling age in Saskatchewan is 19, and the casino admits guests 19 or older. Every event sold at the box office is 19+ as well. Tickets are sold at Guest Services and online through SIGABoxOffice, and all sales are final. At SIGA casinos, anyone under 19 is a prohibited individual, as is anyone excluded or self-excluded. A prohibited individual cannot receive winnings.

    Online gambling in Saskatchewan

PlayNow.com, operated by SIGA, is the only legal online gambling site in Saskatchewan, open to players aged 19 and older. It launched in the province in November 2022. No licence exists for private online casinos in Saskatchewan, and the provincial government describes the sites competing with PlayNow as illegal platforms.

This guide's paid links, marked Ad, lead to one such private site, and the guide earns a commission from that partner. They appear on the home page only, and the partner behind them can change. That site holds no Saskatchewan licence and has no tie to any casino in the province. Neither Game Break nor SIGA Voluntary Self-Exclusion blocks private online sites.
